A Church with a bridge
I bet this will look magnificent when it gets finished.. probably something to the theme of the ancestral houses. They even constructed a brick-road bridge that leads to the church. I hope the homilies that will be shared in this church will actually make sense than most of the other homilies back home.
To the west, when you’re facing the church, are other big houses being re-constructed/constructed. Can’t wait to see what they’ll look like.

Las Casas Filipinas de Azucar
February 2, 2013
This is one interesting painting in one of the ancestral houses we went into during our trip.
The tour guide, Dexter, had an interesting interpretation for the painting.
Girl in Red: Spain
Girl in Blue: Philippines
Spain directing the way for the Philippines. The Philippines, wanting to leave, as expressed by her right hand, directed towards the opposite side, but can’t because of Spain’s right hand around the waist of the Philippines.
The color motif also represents the Philippine flag but with the red side on top, signifying war.
Kinda makes you think. hmm.
To satisfy our craving for some Philippine culture and history, Bettina and I decided to check out Las Casas Filipinas de Azucar.
It was like going back in time for a bit, with all the ancestral houses Bulacan, Pampanga, etc.
All in all, it was an experience! :)
More pictures to come!

Las Casas Filipinas de Azucar
February 2, 2013.
Cheers to the 6 hour bus rides, soft beds, cold winds, messy waves and friends!
This trip was kind of a spur of the week thing, where my cousin needed someone to accompany her back to Baler before all her weekends for three months get blocked off for work.
I was more than happy to go because this was where surfing suddenly became a big part of my life.
I’ve only surfed once back in college. This was where I relearned it and got a bloody nose from a nasty wipe from one really strong white wash and my own stupidity.
Tried to play with 7++ foot boards. Promising but still needs a lot of work.

Baler, Aurora
What a way to start of 2013!
The first morning was the better out of the two mornings.
And unfortunately, the sea was asleep on the afternoons.

Crystal Beach, San Narciso, Zambales
“The ocean is my church, and I’ve come to pray.”
It’s like a the beach is a portal to a world where being carefree is king and time is asleep; where the sea is always lighted, either by the sun or by the moon and stars at night.
These were taken during my last beach trip of 2012. It was a great way to cap of the year. So much so that I decided to start the year 2013 with the same vibe.
Mornings and afternoons were spent waiting for the waves to come. And when they came, the kids inside of us also came out and played.

So I recently got a Lumix G 14mm f2.5 lens for my GF1. It’s a lot of fun to use and it brings me back to my 28mm zoom & 50mm prime days on my Canon EOS 300 film camera.
Here are some test shots.
My recent contribution to ThisIsManila :)
Passion or necessity?

Hey guys! It’s been a long time since I’ve contributed to this blog. What better way to get things rolling again than to share with you some photos I took when my friends and I checked out how Roxas Blvd was after the recent flooding.
Strong winds, rain, crashing waves, cameras and friendship. What a day!
